After 12 wonderful events SweetTalk Cph are going to take a break from organising events for the near future. We’d love to come back with some regular screenings and some irregular speaker events and will work on that behind the scenes over the summer. Our news today is that we have just re-launched our poster shop and we now have all three posters for the Copenhagen screenings of Gary Hustwit’s trilogy on sale, including some super rare copies of 2007’s screening of Helvetica and the new Urbanized poster (designed by Build and customised for Cph), previously only available at the CPH:DOX screening. We have a small number of copies of this poster signed by Gary for the first few orders.
There are also some copies of our own Fisherman/Pipe poster available.
We now have the same postage rate to all of Europe and the USA, plus a little extra to the rest of the world.
Thanks for being a part of SweetTalk Copenhagen so far.
There is more to come…
Superb night last night in Grand. Thanks to everyone involved – sponsors Plant and Carhartt, Media partner Bitchslap Mag as well as Fox Hotel where the exhibition of photos will run till Friday 2nd. And props to Philip Evans for making such a great movie about a really interesting subject.
We’re well happy to announce that from Friday 24th Feb until Friday 2 March in Hotel Fox, Jarmers Plads, Copenhagen SweetTalkCph and our buds over at Bitchslap will be presenting a beautiful photo exhibition of images featured in the ‘Format Perspective’ documentary, which we’ll be screening in Grand Teatret on Monday 27 Feb. Visit the exhibition at any time on those days or call in from 19.30 on the night of the screening where we’ll be present with the director Philip Evans – fresh off the plane from Ireland – and one of the photographers in the movie, Nils Svensson. Our screening will then follow in Grand at 21.30 which as you may know is in association with Plant and Carhartt.
Format Perspective A skate photography documentary by Phil Evans Grand Teatret, Copenhagen. Monday 27 February 2012 at 21.30 (with introduction and Q&A by the director).
SweetTalk Copenhagen together with Plant and Carhartt present a screening of Format Perspective, a documentary that explores the work, lives and opinions of six European skate photographers. The film showcases the photography of Nils Svensson (Malmo – see image above), Stu Robinson (Belfast), Alex Irvine (London), Rich Gilligan (Dublin), Sergej Vutuc (Heilbronn) and Bertrand Trichet (Barcelona/Tokyo), while also giving us an insight into the different approaches used by this diverse line-up of photographers. Filmed completely on super 8 film, this project gives a behind-the-scenes look at the skating that these guys like to shoot, as well as the resulting photos that emerge from these sessions.
Book tickets via Grand Teatret here or call the cinema on 33 15 16 11. Tickets are 80kr.
The Irish team behind the very first SweetTalk idea are back with Offset 2012, their stunning international design event taking place in Dublin over three days beginning on Friday March 9. An insanely good lineup in a graphic-design heavy programme sees speakers such as Kyle Cooper @ Prologue Films, Michael Beirut @ Pentagram,Shepard Fairey / OBEY (USA) and Stefan Sagmeister amongst many others take to the stage in Dublin’s beautiful Grand Canal Theatre for inspirational presentations. With thousands of available hotel rooms floating around Dublin and easy flights from Denmark with Norwegian and SAS it’s well worth considering this inspirational spring shot to the head.
There’s one week left to get the early bird tickets (€150) and there are group and student rates also available.
Thanks to everyone who came out for the two nights of our Urbanized screenings at CPH:DOX. Also thanks to Gary Hustwit for coming over for the events, our supporters at Plant and DAC and the ever-wonderful people at Grand Teatret. Not forgetting Vitamin Well too who made sure those who came to the screening left with some healthy, non-alcoholic drinks appropriate to the end of the DOX week. It was amazing to complete Gary’s trilogy (Helvetica, Objectified) here in Copenhagen with Urbanized. Three fascinating films that we were very proud to be a part of bringing to town. Here are some photos from the night. Limited edition Copenhagen event posters designed by Build will be on sale on the site here very soon – we’ll keep you posted.
Our friends at Plant have a competition running to win two tickets to our sold-out screening of Urbanized this coming Sunday, in Grand Teatret at 21.30. Enter here. Also, we’ve just sent the ltd. edition Copenhagen poster for Urbanized to print. They’ll be available at the cinema on the night and through this website for a limited time afterwards.
SweetTalk Cph and Plant are happy to say that our screening of Urbanized at CPH:DOX has sold out. Watch out on the day as some more tickets may become available but if you got in early, well done! We look forward to seeing you there.
